Equine Structural Integration
What:
Equine Structural Integration is based on the bodywork technique for people developed by Ida Roth in the 1920’s. The basis of this work relies on establishing a deep emotional connection to enhance the physical release of the bodywork. The bodywork itself focuses on relaxing and releasing fascia (connective tissues) within the body.
Why:
The fascia in the body are responsible for holding the body in harmonious tension. Fascia can also hold the entire body in compensation patterns from past injury or trauma. By releasing these holdings through bodywork, the horse is able to use their bodies more efficiently and with less chronic pain or stress.
How often?
Most horses benefit from either bi-monthly or monthly bodywork depending on your individual horse’s starting point. This type of bodywork can also support rehab and recovery after an acute or chronic injury - these clients are seen as frequently as weekly.
I recommend planning for 5 sessions up front. Some holdings require deep work that needs to be uncovered layer by layer.
